Driving France is free to use. We pay for the research and upkeep of the site by earning a commission when you buy or book through some of our links. It never costs you anything extra: you pay the same price as you would going direct.
Where our commission comes from
- Amazon: some pages, such as our guides to driving kit, headlamp beam deflectors and UK stickers, link to products on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Europcar: our guide to hiring a car in France links to Europcar through the Awin affiliate network. If you book after clicking, we may earn a commission.
- Our sister site: many pages link to Book a Ferry to France, which we also run, and which earns commission from ferry bookings.
Links that can earn us a commission are labelled next to the link and are marked in our code as sponsored links, as Google asks.
How it affects what we write
- The rules are the rules. Speed limits, fines, equipment and documents come from official sources, and no company can change what we say about them.
- We tell you what you don’t need. For example, a breathalyser isn’t compulsory in France, and driving kits often include items that aren’t required: we say so, even though it means selling less.
- We point you to official sites where they’re cheapest, such as ordering the Crit’Air sticker only from the official government site, not the copycat sites that charge more.
- Companies don’t write or approve our pages. We write about companies we work with in our own words.
